  • Our Next Event: Today’s Virtual Business World: Running a Virtual Business

    When: 27th Oct 2016 5:00:pm
    Where: New Haven Lawn Club
    Event Details:

    Featured Speakers:

John Ireland, Founding Member of Unlimited Carbon Assistance Network (UCAN)

Two years ago, a group of entrepreneurs wanted to develop a way to contribute to the field of sustainable energy. After much discussion, they came up with the concept for UCAN and incorporated as an L3C (mission before profit) in the state of Vermont. Since each of UCAN's five original members were in different cities, one of their first challenges was to find the right virtual tools to help them run this virtual company. These virtual tools also helped them to contract with independent consultants in the field of sustainable energy. The right virtual, collaborate tools allow UCAN to implement their desired business model.

John Cunningham, Founder and CEO of Bad Elf LLC

John set out in 2010 to build high performance GPS receivers for military, commercial, and private pilots, enabling the transition from paper maps to an electronic flight bag (EFB) built around the iPad. Having worked remotely since 1994, he understood the issues of communications and management in a virtual office context. He implemented lightweight systems in 2005 with the founding of his first company, building around Google for Business offerings. Today, Bad Elf’s infrastructure has been assembled from more than 20 cloud services that cover finance, operations, management, and communications. Bad Elf may be a startup, but has inexpensive access to a multi-million dollar IT staff and infrastructure that always evolves and is always running. Today, Bad Elf can run the business from a $200 Chromebook.
